The mission of the Reach Opportunity Center is to enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Summit Lake neighborhood in Akron, Ohio by increasing educational opportunities through the collaboration of community partners.

VISION: The children and families of the Summit Lake neighborhood are empowered to achieve their aspirations through lifelong learning.

Reach Opportunity Center Celebrates 10 Years

Since 2014, the Reach Opportunity Center in Summit Lake has been a beacon of hope for the 1500 people that it now serves annually!

Reach is primarily funded through AMHA’s non-profit arm, Building for Tomorrow, which relies on donations from valued partners and community supporters to maintain the funds that are needed to do so. For the past several years, Building for Tomorrow has held an annual Reach Higher Breakfast to celebrate the center, and to give us a chance to gather with our generous donors as well as welcomed new supporters who all share one common goal-supporting the growth of Reach!

This year, the Reach Higher Breakfast will be held on 10/10/24 at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn as we celebrate a “Decade of Dedication”, our 2024 campaign honoring Reach’s 10th anniversary.

Join us in celebrating a decade of breaking barriers, building dreams, and transforming lives. As we reflect on the past 10 years, we are immensely proud of the impact we've had on the Summit Lake community and beyond. Through our many community partnerships, we have been able to provide essential resources and opportunities for growth, enabling individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

The "A Decade of Dedication" campaign will showcase inspiring stories, highlight significant milestones, and provide opportunities for community members to get involved.

We invite the community to visit the center, learn more about its programs and initiatives, and discover ways to support its mission of building a brighter future for all.

As we embark on the next chapter of our journey, we call upon the community to join us in our mission. Your support ensures that we can continue to break down barriers, empower more individuals, and create lasting change in the lives of Akron residents. Together, let's continue to build a brighter future for our community.

The Reach Opportunity Center is located directly on Summit Lake, with free parking and easy accessibility on the Akron METRO bus lines and Towpath Trail. Bus passes available!
